Colorful cuisine and culture: the Holi restaurant in St.Gallen
Restaurant Holi, run by Leila and Jagpreet Singh, has been located at Metzgergasse 20 in the northern part of the old town since summer 2023. From 2014 to 2020, they spoiled their guests on St. Jakob-Strasse with delicious Indian dishes.
The name of the restaurant "Holi" is a tribute to the Indian spring festival, which is also considered a festival of color. The dishes, which Jagpreet constantly reinterprets, are also colorful. There are numerous menus with meat, fish or vegetarian dishes. Guests can choose different levels of spiciness.
"We stand for modern Indian cuisine that remains true to its roots."
Jagpreet Alang, owner of the Holi restaurant
Fresh variety of delights
The menu presents a selection of timeless classics such as pudina lamb chops and chicken tikka masala, as well as the latest creations, which are prepared with great passion by chef Jagpreet "Jag". The menu is always adapted to the seasons in order to guarantee the freshness and variety of the ingredients. Jagpreet is supported by two other chefs. Leila and her service team ensure an all-round pleasant stay.
Culinary world tour
Jag was born in India, where he also graduated from hotel management school before moving to Beijing. In 2007, he ended up in Basel before moving to Ascona and St. Moritz, where he worked as a chef for a renowned hotel chain. In 2014, he finally ventured into self-employment.
"St.Gallen is the perfect size for us."
Leila and Jagpreet Alang, owners of Restaurant Holi
"We've been living in St.Gallen for almost ten years now and we feel right at home here," Jag emphasizes proudly. They particularly like the generous amount of space, the family atmosphere and the charm of the old town. In their free time, they like to explore the city or go hiking in the Alpstein. Despite their passion for Indian cuisine, they also enjoy a raclette or a bratwurst.
The Singhs can look back on a successful start on Metzgergasse. The loyal regulars from the past are particularly enthusiastic about the reopening. It is advisable to reserve a table in good time for a stay at Restaurant Holi.
