"How YEOON makes the lettuce bloom".

Marianne De Tomasi is self-employed for over 20 years with her flower store "YEOON". With love and refinement to flowers she works individually on order. The store has been located in Lattich for about four years.

Since the beginning of the lattich in 2018, their flower store is rented there. Previously, the flower store was located on the third floor of the warehouse.

After the preliminary course at the School of Design in St.Gallen, Marianne completed the apprenticeship as a florist in Rapperswil and at the same time the vocational baccalaureate. She then gained experience in the industry and also worked in other professions. It quickly became clear that she wanted to realize her creativity and fascination for flowers and plants in her own business. Today, the team of "YEOON" consists of two employees and fourteen freelancers, who are ready for large orders on call.

Marianne dreamed of "YEOON

Marianne is fascinated by Japanese culture and its aesthetics. It was clear to her that she wanted to name her business after a Japanese word. But she couldn't find anything suitable in the dictionary. She dreamed up the word YEOON and immediately liked it. For the logo of "YEOON" Marianne De Tomasi was also influenced by Japan. The Japanese flower in the logo is part of an old printing stencil that she had seen in the Textile Museum in St.Gallen.

The passion for plants since childhood

Marianne says that her passion for nature, flowers and plants goes back to her childhood. She has always loved being outside and feels connected to nature. "My godfather was a master gardener and so I came into contact with the diversity of the plant world and the craft to it as a child. I can still remember the smell in the greenhouses," enthuses the manager of "YEOON".

Suitable variety of flowers for each season

"Seasonality consistently comes first," Marianne emphasizes. Purchases are made consciously according to order and the delivery routes are kept as short as possible. In all commissioned work, conventional moss and chemical materials are avoided. In addition regional offerers are considered in the majority. In the future, "YEOON" is to become even more sustainable, process only organic flowers and perhaps soon grow plants themselves. Thus, for weddings, events and also in the workshops can be worked with untreated materials.

Our series "Stories from the inner city

In the series "Geschichten aus der Innenstadt" (Stories from the city center), we regularly present a business from the St.Gallen city center. The team of "YEOON" would like to have the store "Die Manufaktur" in the portrait.
