Chocolate manufactory "bonneheure

How lawyer Mimi fulfills her Schoggitraum.

The St.Mangen quarter in the center of the city of St.Gallen holds some treasures. One of these treasures, the chocolate manufactory "bonneheure", we visited recently. Mimi is the manager of "bonneheure" and produces her own chocolate specialties there.

Inconspicuous: the entrance to the "bonneheure" at Magnihalden 14.

When you enter the "bonneheure", you are immediately hit by the delicious smell of chocolate. To the right of the entrance is a small bench, next to which Fairtrade cocoa bean bags from Guatemala, Colombia and Belize welcome you. Behind the counter, Mimi, whose real name is Miriam, is busily packing chocolates. "We do almost everything ourselves here. It starts with grinding the cocoa beans, to making the chocolate, to creating new products and packaging."

Mimi Di Natale, "bonneheure"

From lawyer to chocolatier

Mimi previously worked in the finance industry as a lawyer. She studied in St.Gallen at the HSG and basically liked her job. "One day I asked myself whether the job as a lawyer was now the right career path, whether I should continue with it or start something new?" Mimi decided to start something new. With her two friends Martina and Robin, who support her at "bonneheure", she thought about what this "new thing" could be and at some point they came across their common passion: chocolate.

Mimi decided to open a small chocolate manufactory together with her friends. Martina and Robin are active in the background, Mimi in purchasing, production, sales and thus in the front line.

The former lawyer traveled to Paris three years ago to learn from the best chocolatiers. Back in Switzerland, she concentrated on creating chocolates and other delicacies.

At "bonneheure" there are fresh handmade chocolates, chocolate covered caramels, nuts & candied fruits, fresh smelling cookies and cakes and homemade glacé creations. Not to forget the Gianduja spread, recently awarded gold at the "International Chocolate Awards".

Because Mimi is a huge dachshund fan, we have chocolate dachshunds here.

For all chocolate lovers, a visit to "bonneheure" at Magnihalden is a must.
