St.Gallen
The Women's EURO 2025 will take place in Switzerland from July 2 - 27, 2025 with the slogan "Summit of Emotions". The city of St.Gallen is one of the eight host cities with matches on 4, 9 and 13 July 2025. The host city of St.Gallen is taking on the planning and implementation of this major event with a specially assembled project team. The Swiss Confederation is contributing CHF 15 million to the entire tournament, with ticket sales starting on October 1, 2024. The "final draw", i.e. the drawing of the match pairings, will take place in Lausanne on December 16, 2024.
The project management of Host City St.Gallen and the St.Gallen government are full of anticipation (from left: Patrik Baumer, Bettina Surber, Céline Bradke, Sonja Lüthi, Mathias Gabathuler).
Exactly one year before the first kick-off in St.Gallen for the UEFA Women's EURO 2025, the project management gives the starting signal for the promotional activities and informs about the current project status. The aim of Host City St.Gallen is a sold-out Arena St.Gallen for the matches on July 4, 9 and 13, 2025, as well as a long-term positive impact on girls' and women's football in the region.
Team for the Women's European Championship is set
Project manager Céline Bradke is working with a team of twelve on the organization and implementation of the Women's EURO 2025 in St.Gallen. The OC is now complete. In addition to security, mobility and marketing, the OC is also responsible for the supporting program around the tournament and the implementation of "legacy" measures for the sustainable promotion of girls' and women's football in the region.
Joint financing by city and canton
The Confederation's contribution to the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 amounts to CHF 15 million. This will be used in equal parts for national communication, public transport ticket integration and legacy measures. The city and canton of St.Gallen have also jointly approved a commitment credit of CHF 2.8 million for the planning, organization and implementation in the host city of St.Gallen.
Tickets available from October 1
You can register for tickets at www.womenseuro.com/tickets. Tickets for the matches in the Arena St.Gallen will go on sale on October 1, 2024 and are available in two categories for CHF 25 or CHF 40. Travel to and from the matches by public transport in Switzerland is included in the ticket price. The draw for the fixtures will take place in Lausanne on December 16, 2024.
Awakening enthusiasm in Eastern Switzerland
"1 year to go" is the official starting signal for the promotion of the Women's EURO 2025 in St.Gallen. Over the next 12 months, the European Women's Football Championship will be a constant presence in St.Gallen and the surrounding area. Among other things, a football tent will be set up at various events and at the official tournament milestones ("final draw", "100 days to go", "50 days to go"). The aim of this promotion is to spark enthusiasm for the tournament and women's football in eastern Switzerland. The regional population should be encouraged to be part of this unique major international event and support the players live on site. The organizers are aiming for sold-out matches in the Arena St.Gallen in July 2025. The supporting program during the tournament days in St.Gallen will be communicated at a later date.
Three prominent local ambassadors are committed to the Host City St.Gallen: Karin Bernet and Jana Brunner, players in the women's team FC St.Gallen 1879, and Elisabeth Beéry, former city councillor and former Vice President of Swiss Athletics. An overarching nationwide communication campaign is also being launched by Switzerland Tourism on behalf of the federal government. The host city of St.Gallen is joining this national promotion with players from the Swiss national football team.
200 volunteers wanted
A total of around 2,500 volunteers will be deployed in all host cities on several days of the tournament. Thanks to the volunteers, the aim is to ensure the efficient, sustainable and cost-effective deployment of specialist staff and to make the Women's EURO 2025 an unforgettable experience for everyone. The minimum requirements for a volunteer are: Age of majority, availability during the tournament, multilingualism and a high level of motivation. In return, the volunteers receive training, experience, a broad network, uniform and meals. UEFA and the Host City St.Gallen are jointly looking for around 200 volunteers. Pre-registration is possible here. Recruitment will start in fall 2024.
Promoting women's soccer
The "Legacy" of the Women's EURO 2025 aims to promote girls' and women's football in the long term with targeted measures. The Swiss Football Association (SFA) presented its concept and measures on May 31, 2024. In particular, the aim is to get more female players, coaches and referees interested in the sport and to better promote elite football. Based on these objectives, "legacy" measures are also being developed and implemented in the host city of St.Gallen and the region of Eastern Switzerland. In this regard, the project team is working closely with the Eastern Switzerland Football Association (OFV), which has created a women's football position as of 1 May 2024. Training to become a coach and referee is to be made more accessible with targeted courses in the region. There will also be regular exchanges between the city's football clubs in order to optimize the pitch and dressing room situation. Further regional projects are currently in the development phase.
