Pop-up "St.Galler Haus"
New pop-up store "St.Galler Haus" as a showcase for regional and creative products
From November 25, 2021 to December 23, 2021, the "City Management Board" will operate a pop-up store at Spisergasse 12 in partnership with the "Made in St Gallen Initiative" as well as the art platform "supportyourlocalartist.ch". The creative concept is intended to enrich the city center during Advent, inspire visitors and be a showcase for regional products. In addition, professionally supervised children's craft afternoons are held at "St.Galler Haus" on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The "City Management Board", an alliance between Pro City St.Gallen, Gewerbe Stadt St.Gallen, Gastro Stadt St.Gallen, Hotellerie St.Gallen-Bodensee, St.Gallen-Bodensee Tourismus and the Standortförderung Stadt St.Gallen, is implementing the next measures to revitalize and publicize the city center following the launch of the successful "Sankt" campaign last summer. For the pop-up store "St.Galler Haus"(www.stgallerhaus.ch), the committee is bringing the association "Made in St Gallen" and the art platform "supportyourlocalartist.ch" on board. "We know that the diversity of offerings in the city center is particularly important for people to visit us," says Ralph Bleuer, president of Pro City St.Gallen. "The cooperation shows in an exemplary way that new and creative offers are created through cooperations," said Samuel Zuberbühler, head of Standortförderung Stadt St.Gallen. Fabienne Klauser, president of the "Made in St Gallen" association, adds that the project offers added value to all the institutions involved. It was therefore clear from the outset that the association wanted to participate here and offer its members an exclusive shop window in the St. Gallen city center. At "St.Galler Haus", around 15 members of the "Made in St Gallen" association present and sell various products made in the canton of St.Gallen - from food and wooden furniture to textiles and clothing. The producers themselves are often on site and present their offers personally.
The platform "supportyourlocalartist.ch" originally developed out of the Covid 19 crisis. By creating a website to distribute the works of local artists, a veritable network grew. "We want to use our network to make the general population aware of the many talents as well as the unique pieces far from the general commercialized products," said Samuel Ackermann, one of the founders of "supportyourlocalartist.ch." More than 30 artists will present their works at "St.Galler Haus". Visitors can also look over the shoulders of some artists as they create new works.
On the top floor, the "St.Galler Haus" offers professionally supervised craft afternoons for children between the ages of 3 and 10 every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in cooperation with the Child and Family Center. The number of places per afternoon is limited to 12 children. Participation costs CHF 10 per child. Due to Covid 19 protection measures, the offer lasts two hours each time. Registration is not necessary. Participation is on a first come, first served basis.
The "St.Galler Haus" will be open from Thursday, November 25, 2021 always Wednesday to Friday from 09.30 to 19h, Saturdays from 09.30 to 18h and on the open Sundays (December 12 and 19, 2021) from 12h to 17h. In the "St.Galler Haus" the generally valid Covid 19 protection measures for the retail trade apply (esp. mask obligation and hygiene measures).
