"tanninogallo" in portrait

Whether wine tasting, aroma training or private event - "tanninogallo" offer exclusive experiences in their wine cellar.

St.Gallen friends Eric and David founded "tanninogallo" six years ago and offer events, tastings and sales of wine at Engelgasse 15. Their vision is to bring uncomplicated wine to a young and young-at-heart, style-conscious audience.

Eric Häusler and David Morant from St.Gallen have been friends since their school days.

In a cellar on Engelgasse are the office, bar, wine cellar and event space of "tanninogallo" - everything takes place in the same place. The premises have long been owned by Eric Häusler's family. In the 90s there was a club here, at some point it became a private wine cellar and recreational space for Eric and David's colleagues. "We often played cards here before going out," says David. In addition to beer, wine was also drunk more and more often and the two friends came up with the idea of offering wine to a young audience.

David Morant, "tanninogallo"

About six years ago, in 2016, the two St.Gallen residents traveled to Piedmont to flesh out their business idea. On the way home, they studied theoretical wine knowledge and came across the term "gallotannin". This tannin is a component of wine. With a dash of creativity, they quickly found a suitable name for their young company - "tanninogallo", which sounds a bit like St.Gallen thanks to the "gallo".

A well-rehearsed team that grows

Eric Häusler and David Morant have known each other since their school days. Both have studied, Eric is a psychologist and works in personnel selection, David is a digital business consultant. Anna Liechti has also been part of the "tanninogallo" team for three years. The trained sommelière is a wine consultant for the gastronomy and responsible for the tastings and events. Thomas Bollhalder ensures smooth logistics and reliable delivery of the wines. Soon, the team will receive further growth.

Most wines are available in 750 ml bottles. This can be too much if you enjoy the wine alone or if you want to treat yourself to just one glass with dinner. That's why "tanninogallo" has launched its own product line - it's called "AMI". "AMI" bottles contain 375 ml. Conscious enjoyment without excess.

"AMI" bottles deliberately contain only 375 ml.
A glass of wine is not to be missed at "tanninogallo".

Unique experiences and cooperation with local business

In their wine cellar, the team of "tanninogallo" offers aroma training or tastings. There is also the possibility to enjoy an exclusive private dinner in the wine cellar. The wine is served by "tanninogallo", the food comes from the restaurant Sauceria on the first floor. The team of "tanninogallo" cares a lot about the cooperation with the local business. They offer their wines in selected restaurants and with their pop-up bar they are occasionally on the road in the city center. When selecting their wines, the tanninos take into account European winegrowers who produce close to nature and strive for high quality.

Soon the tanninos will implement their next idea. They will open their wine cellar on Engelgasse on the first Friday of the month during the colder months. Access to the wine bar will only be granted to those who know the correct code word.
