St.Gallen is a family- and child-friendly city. The city of St.Gallen offers a wide range of childcare facilities for the compatibility of family and career. In addition, the compact city with lots of nature awaits the great adventures of the little ones.
The nature-oriented kindergarten
Anyone who works and has children knows what is important when it comes to balancing family and career. The city of St.Gallen offers reliable childcare with daycare centers and daycare structures. Daycare centers are available for children as young as three months, schoolchildren can take advantage of daycare and there is a lunch service for high school students. The "Waldkinder St.Gallen" play and learn in the city's forests: the offer in nature ranges from pre-play groups for children from the age of two, playgroups, crèches and kindergartens to the basic level for 9-year-olds. Playing among the trees on the soft forest floor is even better and the children love to let off steam in the fresh air. The teachers' enthusiasm is palpable and you can see how happy the children are.
Child-friendly city
The city also offers a wide range of leisure activities: numerous youth clubs, neighborhood meeting places and plenty of green spaces invite children and young people. The city also has around 50 children's play areas, a selection of libraries, museums and sports facilities. The playgrounds are often located in neighborhoods that function like villages. We meet Sarah from St.Gallen with her son at a playground in Linsebühl: "St.Gallen is a child-friendly city with lots of playgrounds. I really like this one in Linsebühl, it's nice and quiet. We also like going to the one in the city park," says Sarah. She appreciates that there are lots of kindergartens and offers such as lunch. Whether in the middle of the city or in the neighborhoods, the playgrounds are well looked after.
Nature indoors and outdoors
Families and children who love nature will get their money's worth in St.Gallen: They can learn about the various animals in the nature museum and in Peter and Paul they can observe chamois, ibex, deer, marmots and wild boar outside. The wildlife park is located above the town on a hilltop in the Rotmonten district and is a popular place for families where there is plenty to discover and marvel at - admission to the park is free. One thing can be said for sure: St.Gallen has managed to ensure that the city is there for everyone: for older people, for young people and, above all, for children, who can let off steam and develop wonderfully here.
