The HSG has been part of St.Gallen for almost 125 years - in the beginning as a "commercial academy", today as one of the leading business universities in Europe. Practical relevance, internationality and an integrative view in studies, further education and research characterize the University of St.Gallen. In addition to the new offerings in Computer Science and Medicine, the HSG offers a variety of Bachelor's and Master's programs in Business and Law. According to the Financial Times Ranking, the Master's in Strategy and International Management (SIM) is the best Master's in Management worldwide. It has been for ten years now.

 

 

Continuing education

In addition to teaching and research, continuing education is a core task of the University of St.Gallen. With well over 100 courses, it offers a diversified range for all career stages and phases: from short seminars to certificate (CAS) and diploma programs (DAS) to the MBA and Executive MBA.

 

Public lectures

The University of St.Gallen offers all interested persons a varied program of public lectures on a wide range of topics. With the semester pass for 20 francs, any number of lectures can be attended.

History of the University of St.Gallen

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) was founded in 1898 - during the heyday of the St.Gallen embroidery industry - as a commercial academy and is today a university for economics, law, social sciences, international relations and computer science. The first lectures took place in 1899. Practical relevance and an integrative view have characterized the education since those founding days. Today, the HSG is one of the leading business universities in Europe.
