Whether in the middle of the city, in the heart of the Rhine Valley or directly on the shores of Lake Zurich: The OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland ) offers optimal conditions for study, research and continuing education within the departments of architecture, construction, landscape, space, health, information technology, social work, engineering and business at all of its three locations. Since September 1, 2020, the OST unites the three universities FHS St. Gallen, HSR Rapperswil and NTB Buchs.

Study programs health

Healthcare is a complex field, and the need for nurses is growing. The nursing degree program at OST prepares you for the increasingly complex tasks in the healthcare sector. You will acquire the skills to think holistically and act professionally in challenging situations with patients.

With a business degree, you are ideally prepared to take on responsibility in companies from the banking, insurance and auditing sectors, industrial and commercial enterprises or innovative IT companies, etc. to take on responsibility.

Engineers who combine technology with business

St.Gallen is known for its economics. OST also stands for technology - and an interesting combination of both. The Industrial Engineering and Management (WING) course at OST in St.Gallen teaches business and technical know-how and trains specialists who specialize in the big picture.

Since fall 2021, it has been possible to study computer science at the OST. We talked to Professor Mirko Stocker, who is responsible for the St.Gallen site, about the bachelor's program and asked him what fascinates him so much about computer science.

Practical studies at the OST

Many of the student practical projects are carried out with a company, a planning office or an institution. The assignments are thus highly topical, the atmosphere reflects professional life and the students make valuable contacts for the future. The OST is the university of applied sciences for the six cantons of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. With approximately 3,800 students in six departments, 1,500 professionals continuing their education and over 1,000 research projects, the OST is the educational hub of the region. The OST combines over 170 years of educational and research tradition.
