About Pinos sound and dress

Freshly renovated at Kugelgasse 5 / Brühlgasse 18 stands a neat, yellow building with green shutters. The words "Klang und Kleid" are emblazoned in the shop window and old records can be seen. Whether young punks or older ladies - everyone is welcome at Klang und Kleid.

Klang und Kleid is not new in St.Gallen, but has been present in the city since 1993. Just at the Torstrasse and since this year at the Kugelgasse. Pino Stinelli was one of the founders of this store. He grew up in St.Gallen, studied at the HSG and has combined all his passions in the sound and dress. "Music, knowledge, hats, art, culture, events - all that inspires me and makes me friends," says Stinelli, elegantly dressed in a brown hat. "By the way, this hat is produced in Switzerland, I was in the production facility last week," Stinelli continues. Hats abound in the sound and dress. But it's not the hats that are the heart of the store. The centerpiece is the records. And there are plenty of them in the "Klang und Kleid". They are music records with mainly old sound, which are also played over the loudspeaker boxes in the store. You feel like you're in another time here, everyday life seems far away and you have the feeling you're somewhere in America in the 70s or 80s.

Besides the records and hats, there are record players, vintage furniture and clothes, colorful posters or postcards on offer. The clientele in the sound and dress is colorful. From young people on their way to the Kanti, to retirees - the store attracts many, out of curiosity or to reminisce nostalgically about old times.

"My concern is to keep surprising the people of St.Gallen. Many don't expect a store like we are in St.Gallen," Stinelli says proudly. "We have already received various inquiries from other cities as to whether we are expanding, but we are staying here with our roots."

In the future, Pino Stinelli would like to hold events again, whether in the 600-year-old vaulted cellar of the building or concerts on the pretty roof terrace. He has in mind the idea of regular concerts, as the Beatles did at the legendary "Rooftop Concert" in 1969. "The bands could play from the Klang und Kleid rooftop terrace and the people on Kugelgasse could listen, dance and enjoy," Stinelli enthuses.
