The St.Gallen Children's Festival

The children's festival will take place in 2024 to mark its 200th anniversary. It will be held on a sunny and dry day between May 22 and June 26, 2024. The possible dates can be found here. The motto is "A journey through time 1824-2024-2224" and was first chosen by the school children. It will be incorporated into the design of the schools' performances and will also shape the visual appearance of the children's festival, which will be presented to the public on March 20, 2024.

The St.Gallen Children's Festival is an urban folk festival. Schoolchildren from the town's schools parade through the town in festive costumes to the Kinderfestplatz, where they perform various shows. More than 30,000 people gather on the large meadow on the Rosenberg high above the town.

The children's festival is normally held every three years on a day in early summer, but does not have a fixed date. The school and music department of the city administration organizes the festival and determines its motto in advance, as well as a suitable date when the weather promises a beautiful summer's day.

The last children's festival took place on June 20, 2018. Around 5,500 pupils, 500 teachers, 550 musicians and around 30,000 festival-goers attended the all-day event.
