There is exciting news from the Switzerland Innovation Park East (SIP East) in St.Gallen. The area will continue to develop and offer even more exciting opportunities for start-ups, SMEs and international companies. We would like to inform you about the upcoming extension of the east wing and give you an insight into the future plans of the park.
A gradual growth
The East SIP will be gradually expanded to add to its already impressive offerings. In the short term, there will be additional space on Level 1 East, which will serve as workshop rooms. In addition, two floors will be added to the east wing, which will be occupied by the OST (Ostschweizer Fachhochschule) from 2024. This expansion is a significant milestone and will help to further strengthen the industrial landscape of Eastern Switzerland.
But that's not all. In the medium term, an extension is planned for the roof terrace, for which planning permission has already been granted. There are also plans for an extension on the northern part of the site, for which a preliminary project already exists. As soon as these projects are implemented, the rental space of SIP East will be doubled. This means that even more start-ups, SMEs and international companies will be able to find a place here to fit into the vibrant business environment of Eastern Switzerland.

A living ecosystem of innovation
The long-term expansion plans for SIP East comprise several stages and are intended to create a total area of 20,000 to 25,000 square meters. The park would like to gradually expand the available space in order to further revitalize and enlarge the ecosystem. "We are already looking for anchor tenants for the extension, ideally those who are active in our key research areas," explains Michael Deuber, who is responsible for campus operations at SIP Ost.
